Dayton Votes Penn Station East Coast Subs Best Local Submarine Sandwich
DAYTON, Ohio August 25, 2009 - Penn Station has been voted the #1 sandwich joint in Dayton. The poll was conducted in early August by popular site ActiveDayton.com. An astounding 1,262 votes out of 1,998 votes were in support of Penn Station East Coast Subs making it Dayton’s favorite amongst its peers.
“Penn Station’s customer base is fiercely loyal and we are glad that they were involved in the poll,” says Craig Dunaway, President of Penn Station, Inc. “It’s our high quality freshness and grilled-to-order taste that keeps our customers coming back.” Dayton Managing Owner John Dorger agrees, “One of my favorite things about working at Penn Station is interacting and building actual relationships with our customers. We are very active in the community through our Penn Station Athlete of the Month program and our Little League Sponsorships we began this year. We believe the community takes note of our involvement and supports us as we have supported them.”
Penn Station makes East Coast-style submarine sandwiches on hearth-baked bread and serves up fresh hand-cut fries and hand-squeezed lemonade daily, which has set them apart from other sandwich places in Dayton.
When founder Jeff Osterfeld opened up the first Penn Station in Cincinnati in 1985, the original menu only had four sandwiches, its specialty being the grilled Philadelphia Cheesesteak.
The signature grilled Philly Cheesesteak is partially responsible for Penn Station's existence: When Osterfeld was researching East Coast-style subs, he was particularly attracted to the popularity of the Cheesesteak. It proved an instant hit with customers of his original restaurant, Jeffrey's Delicatessen, and remains a popular choice today.
In addition to its signature Philadelphia Cheesesteak Sub, Penn Station also offers other hot grilled to-order-sandwiches and wraps such as the Chicken Cordon Bleu; the Chicken Teriyaki; the Chicken Parmesan; the Pizza; the Italian; the Club; the Reuben; the Vegetarian, and the unique fresh-grilled Artichoke Sub. The menu also features the Chicken and Tuna Salad Sub, ten Sub Salads and Kid’s Meals. A new Catering and Box Lunch menu with a wide variety of options is also available.
