Troy, Ohio - May 13, 2009 - Penn Station East Coast Subs & other area businesses* raised over $17,000 for the Troy-Miami County Public Library earlier this month. Jayson Hughes, Troy Penn Station general manager said, “Our original goal was $14,000 but we exceeded that and are now looking forward to perhaps a block party next year.” Just a few weeks ago Troy community members were shocked to hear that their local Public Library would be closing on Sundays due to decreased funding. Approximately 800 families enjoyed raffles, games, Penn Station food, helicopter rides and a corn hole tournament to rally together in support of the Library. With the help of area businesses like Penn Station, the Library will now remain open on Sundays for another year!
Area businesses involved in the block party included: Penn Station East Coast Subs, Harris Jewelers, Heidelberg Distributing Company, El Rancho Grande, Buffalo Wild Wings, Francis Furniture, Jumpy’s, Sakai, Culver’s, Troy Daily News, Union Savings Bank, WDTN-TV Channel 2, 102.9, and 92.9.
Penn Station is best known for its trademark sandwich, the Philadelphia Cheesesteak Sub. Other customer favorites include Penn Station’s hand-cut french fries, freshsqueezed lemonade and its “signature” fresh-baked french bread.
